Black Haystack, Dog of the Week, Newfies!
Fiona surveys the available playmates, looking for her Poppy.
The big girl, Fiona! She’s the big, black Newfoundland (Newfie) in the middle of the photo looking for her best friend, Poppy. There she is! Quick, nap with her!
Fiona and Poppy: Besties
When you’re the best of friends, having so much fun together…
Fiona is such a big pile of hair! She is a regular at Dawg Gone It, so if your dog has been in big dog play group within the past 2 years, the odds are good that Fiona was there at the same time.
Now, as she is a black dog, we don’t have tons of great photos of Fiona.
Like this one. Kinda hard to see her.
Here is one with her tongue hanging out to add a little more color.
It is VERY hard to take a good picture of a black dog standing on a black floor.
Or this one, hard to really see her features.
But we keep trying to capture her essence. Like this one shows her at play. Big girl can MOVE!
Fiona plays like crazy in the morning.
Or this one, which is depicts one of her two natural states: playing with Poppy. (The other is “ASLEEP.”)

Here is a nice close-up of her face.
Fiona, Ready for Her Close-Up
Really the only way to show her to you correctly is via video, and we may as well get some help from our good friend Bacon Bubbles and go Slow-Mo! (Turn your volume on to listen to her sound like a Fiona-Saurus.)
Breed: Newfoundland
Age: Turns 3 years old next month!
Weight: BIG! We just weighed her, and she came in at 147.6 lbs. If you shaved her you’d probably knock off 10 lbs.
First Time at DGI: May 3, 2016
Shedding: Good lord, yes. Yes, yes, 1,000 times yes.
Nickname(s): Fie-Fie, Fee-Fie, Fee-Fie-Foe-Fum,
Best Friends: Poppy. She’ll play with other dogs, but she WANTS to be playing with her Pop-Pop.
Funny Story: Plays for a very strong 2 hours and then becomes a shadow in the corner, unbothered by dogs sitting, falling, or laying on her. She looks like a haystack, but black. VERY hard to wake up when it’s time for her to go home.
Why is there a black haystack snoring in the corner?
She moves as slow as possible when she knows she’s going home, using her strength to try and back out of the door and get back into daycare and the loving paws of her Poppy.
